About AAP
Australian Associated Press (AAP) is Australia’s independent national newswire service. In 2020 AAP became a not-for-profit, and is supported by subscriptions, philanthropy and grants including from the Australian Federal Government.
For 90 years AAP has been the backbone of Australia’s media sector, supplying wholesale text and images to hundreds of news outlets across the country and supporting diversity in our media landscape.
AAP News is our daily news service available direct to the public. When you subscribe you will be getting access to news, sport and international coverage. No ads, no opinion - just factual, public-interest journalism from our reporters around Australia and our international agency partners including Associated Press (AP) and Reuters.
You will also have access to our specialist desk articles, which go behind the headlines to explore issues in depth. These desks were established with the generosity of our philanthropic supporters.
AAP's specialist desk donors include:
- Arts desk - Balnaves Foundation
- Future Economies desk - Boundless Earth; McKinnon Family Foundation
- Climate desk - Multiple donors including Groundswell; the Isaacson Davis Foundation
- First Nations desk - Snow Foundation
