A video shows AFP Commissioner Krissy Barrett announcing four Indian nationals have been arrested in connection with the Bondi shooting.
Our verdict
False. The commissioner has made no such announcement and the clip has been digitally manipulated.
AAP FACTCHECK - A manipulated video purporting to show the federal police chief announcing that four Indian nationals have been arrested in connection to the Bondi Beach shooting has gone viral.
However, the clip is fake and there's no evidence that Australian Federal Police (AFP) Commissioner Krissy Barrett made such a statement.
Sajid Akram, 50, and his 24-year-old son Naveed opened fire on a Jewish event at a Bondi Beach park, killing at least 15 people and injuring dozens, on December 14, 2025.
Posts on Facebook and X have shared a video that appears to show the commissioner speaking about the investigation into the attack at a press conference outside parliament.

"During an intelligence-led operation, authorities confirmed the arrest of four individuals of Indian nationality following the Bondi incident, as part of ongoing investigative efforts," she appears to say in the video.
"These arrests represent a significant development in uncovering the wider network under scrutiny.
"We acknowledge and appreciate the cooperation provided by Indian authorities and intelligence partners, whose timely and precise information played an essential role in guiding our actions."
One post sharing the video also claims those arrested were "allegedly Hindu extremists operating under false Muslim identities".
However, the clip's audio appears to have been generated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The AFP commissioner did appear at a press conference alongside anti-Semitism envoy Jillian Segal outside parliament on December 18, 2025.
However, she did not mention that Indian nationals were arrested, according to the official transcript.
The suspicious clip shared in the posts carries a watermark from The Guardian Australia publication.
The Guardian posted a genuine clip of the commissioner at the December 18 press conference, which runs for two minutes and 43 seconds.
At no point in the original clip does the commissioner mention arresting Indian nationals.

A comparison between the original and altered video shows the commissioner's and Ms Segal's head movements are almost identical.
However in the manipulated clip, Ms Barrett's mouth movements have been altered to mimic the fabricated audio.
The audio in the suspicious clip was identified by AI audio detection tool Resemble AI as being digitally-generated, the Press Trust of India reported.
AAP FactCheck has previously debunked false claims about the nationality of the Bondi shooters.
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke has confirmed that Sajid Akram migrated to Australia in the 1990s and was a visa holder and that Naveed Akram is an Australian-born citizen.
Indian police have since said the 50-year-old was an Indian citizen, originally from the city of Hyderabad, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
