James Anderson has been recalled for his home Ashes Test at Old Trafford, while England will also persist with spinning allrounder Moeen Ali batting at No.3.
England confirmed on Monday that Anderson's return would be the one change for the fourth Test from Wednesday, with pantomime villain Ollie Robinson dropping out.
Anderson was left out of the team's three-wicket win at Headingley, but there was always a thought the 40-year-old had been kept on ice for this match.
On his return, Anderson will have the chance to bowl from The James Anderson End for the first time in an Ashes match, after the pavilion end was renamed after him in 2017.
Anderson has had an underwhelming Ashes, taking three wickets at 75.33.
But the forecast of cloudy skies and some wet weather for this Manchester Test is likely to suit the hometown seamer.
The decision to leave Robinson out comes after he had declared himself fit to play at Old Trafford, following back spasms at Headingley.
One of England's best bowlers for the past year, Robinson has taken 10 wickets in this series.
But he has now seemingly slipped behind the out-and-out pace of Mark Wood and all-round ability of Chris Woakes, as concerns linger over Ben Stokes' knee.
Moeen's move to No.3 will allow Harry Brook to bat at No.5 and Jonny Bairstow at No.7, after both shifted up the order in the first innings at Headingley following Ollie Pope's injury.
He was elevated to No.3 in England's chase, and averages 27.82 in Test cricket with five centuries.
"I always thought (batting at) No.6 or No.7 was nice. But I do enjoy batting at three," Moeen said.
"It's obviously going to be challenging, batting No.3 against Australia, best bowling attack in the world.
"But having done it in county cricket, I know that's different but it's not alien at all."
Moeen conceded it was a decision that was better suited to the team than him individually.
"That's the most important thing," Moeen said.
"I feel Brooky is a great player and will be a great player. I feel like No.5 is great for him. The impact he can have at No.5 is greater than he can have at No.3."
