Australia's newest Olympic champion Cooper Woods has followed in Jakara Anthony's footsteps - literally - with his moguls victory at the Milan-Cortina Olympics.
While Anthony was left devastated to miss the podium after starting a red-hot favourite in her own event, the Beijing gold medallist was at the bottom of the Livigno run 24 hours later cheering her teammates on.
Woods shocked the world and himself with his unlikely victory.
With the 25-year-old unprepared for the medal dais and with only ski boots in his kit, he found a solution by borrowing Anthony's shoes.
Anthony was then left wearing only socks in the snow until someone handed her some slides.
The tight-knit Australian team, who spend nine months a year travelling together, celebrated as one, with Matt Graham the first to reach Woods and lift him in the air.
Graham, a PyeongChang silver medallist, would have been disappointed to finish fifth but put that aside to share the golden moment with his moguls mate.
“To be up there, the last man standing, I just told him at the top that this is a privilege, make the most of it, turn by turn and just stay in the moment,” Graham said.
“He did that to the best of his ability and he’s standing up there alongside two of the greatest mogul skiers of all time, and he’s on the top step. I’m stoked for him - it’s a win for our team, a win for the Australian Olympic Team, and a win for Australia.
"It's good sort of bounce-back from yesterday - it was pretty heartbreaking to see what happened to Jakara but she was great about it.
"I mean we're all proud of her and she really went for it yesterday and unfortunately just came unstuck."
While Woods said he intended to "have a few beers", he only made his own party for an hour to celebrate once his media commitments were over.
His family and friends shared cake and champagne and passed the gold medal around, although Woods said he would save the real celebrations for when his competition was over after Sunday's dual moguls.
A new addition on the Olympic program, the event in which skiers race head-to-head will give Anthony and Graham a chance to make amends, while Woods could become a double gold-medallist.
