Aussies' swimming super-coach locked in for 2028 Games

Rohan Taylor, the coach who helped Australia secure 19 swimming medals at the Paris Olympics, has signed a contract extension that runs until the end of the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

Taylor was appointed head coach by Swimming Australia in 2020.

His team won a record nine gold medals in Japan and then seven in the Paris pool.

"I am honoured to be leading the Olympic program to LA and privileged to be working with the coaches, athletes and HP (high performance) leadership that make our Dolphins team successful," he said in a statement.

"None of us exist in isolation and the quest for excellence is ongoing across all programs."

Meanwhile, Mel Tantrum is Swimming Australia's new Paralympic head coach while Simon Cusack has been appointed national youth coach.

Cusack is a four-time Olympic coach, whose mentorees include Cate and Bronte Campbell.
