Authorities are on the hunt after a native wood duck was found shot with an arrow in northwest Victoria.
The injured animal was found at Mildura Marina on Saturday and taken to a veterinarian but died from a haemorrhage in an operation to remove the arrow.
All wildlife in Victoria is protected by law with penalties for hunting, taking or destroying wildlife ranging from $9000 to more than $44,000 and up to two years' jail.
The Conservation Regulator is urging anyone with information about the incident to report it confidentially to Crime Stoppers.
