Prolific run-scorer Cameron Bancroft has left BBL champions Perth Scorchers to join Sydney Thunder.

Bancroft, third on the Scorchers' all-time run-scoring list, has signed a three-year deal with the Thunder.

“We’re delighted to have secured Cam," Sydney Thunder head Andrew Gilchrist said on Tuesday.

"His talent and ability to contribute on-field is evident but he’s also a fantastic person and we know the value he’ll add to our group off-field.

"His experience at the top of the order will be immense for us.

"His form, particularly in the second half of last season, made him one of the competition’s biggest targets this off-season."

Bancroft, who averaged 51 at a strike rate of 140 in the last BBL tournament, played 68 games for the Scorchers.

The opening batsman was the leading Sheffield Shield run-scorer last season with 945 at an imposing average of 59.06 to help Western Australia win consecutive four-day titles.
