Bikies in Mildura have been put on notice as police move to disrupt illegal activities in the Victorian border town.
Firearm parts, ammunition, an ammunition press machine and illicit drugs have been seized in a week-long operation targeting members of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang.
Local, state-based and federal police conducted 15 firearm prohibition order searches and nine search warrants that ended in seven arrests and more than $27,000 of unpaid fines.
Mildura investigation and response manager Inspector David Rowe said the arrests were a result of strong collaboration and intelligence gathering between local and specialist units targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs.
“If you’re in Mildura and involved in organised crime, be warned it’s only a matter of time before we come knocking," he said on Monday.
VIPER task force Detective Acting Inspector Leigh Howse said criminals should not feel more comfortable living in regional areas.
“Make no mistake - police will continue to do everything within their power to make sure firearms stay out of the wrong hands.”
Last week's operation follows an Australia-wide crackdown on outlaw motorcycle gangs that led to almost 700 charges and seized 43 firearms along with more than 20 other weapons, 11 vehicles and about $1 million in cash.
VIPER is a tactical and investigative unit focused on preventing, detecting, deterring, disrupting and dismantling the criminal activities of groups such as outlaw motorcycle gangs, organised crime networks and street gangs.
