UK MP Suella Braverman, ‍who was interior minister between 2022 and 2023, has joined Nigel Farage's Reform UK party from the Conservatives, she says.

Braverman ‍is a sitting MP and becomes the latest Conservative to join Reform after former Conservative ‌Party leadership candidate Robert Jenrick announced he was defecting earlier this ‍month.

"I feel like I've come home," she told a Reform UK veterans event in London.

"Britain is indeed broken. She is suffering. She is not well. Immigration is out of control. Our public services are on their knees. People don't feel safe.

"Our youngsters are leaving the country for better futures elsewhere. We can't even defend ourselves, and our nation stands weak and humiliated on the world stage. So we stand at a crossroads."

Braverman ‍said she had resigned her Conservative party membership of 30 years.

"And because I believe, with my heart and soul, that a better future is possible for us, I am joining Reform UK," she said.

The populist Reform UK is ahead of both Prime Minister Keir Starmer's Labour and Kemi Badenoch's Conservatives in opinion polls ahead of an election due in 2029.
