A cult leader and self-professed prophet will fight allegations that he and his wife groomed a girl for several years, starting when she was only six.

William Kamm, known to his followers as ‘Little Pebble’, allegedly called the child, wrote her letters and sent her presents to groom her to become a “queen” in his church.

While it's alleged he never met the girl, the 74-year-old and his wife Sandra Susan Mathison, 58, are accused of grooming her for more than a decade.

At the time, prosecutors say Kamm was either in jail for the sexual abuse of two other girls or on parole and subject to an extended supervision order.

But the cult leader and his wife denied the allegations when they faced Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.

Kamm formally pleaded not guilty to grooming a child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity, grooming a child for unlawful sexual activity and an aggravated offence of inciting a person to do a sexual act.

Beaming into the courtroom in his prison greens, he also denied allegations he twice failed to comply with a supervision order.

His wife Mathison wore a white dress as she entered her own pleas of not guilty to grooming a child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity and grooming a child for unlawful sexual activity.

The couple will appear before the NSW District Court in November to set a trial date.

An interim apprehended violence order has been taken out to protect the complainant.

The girl was allegedly told she had been chosen to procreate with Kamm to create a new sect of his religious doomsday cult, Order of Saint Charbel.

The self-proclaimed seer claims he can communicate with Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary through visions.
