Detectives charge man over alleged cattle export fraud

A Victorian man has been charged with fraud in a long-running investigation of cattle exports.

Police have been investigating four consignments of livestock in 2018 and 2019, with allegedly false documents forwarded and misleading information provided to cattle export companies.

Financial crime squad detectives have charged a Lardner man with obtain financial advantage by deception, handle stolen goods and conspiracy to defraud.

The 48-year-old was bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Detectives also raided properties in Pakenham and Warragul in July last year for the investigation, which remains ongoing.
