Broc Feeney has given himself another prime opportunity to seal his place in the penultimate round of the Supercars finals by securing pole for the final race of the Gold Coast 500.

The Triple Eight Race Engineering star was the last driver in the top-10 shootout and he snared first position by a mere 0.0717 seconds from teammate Will Brown before the 250km, 85-lap race later on Sunday.

It is Feeney's sixth pole of the season and his second in succession as he looks to claim an elusive maiden hometown victory.

But while Feeney again lit up the Surfers Paradise street circuit in the shootout, Matt Stone Racing's Jack Le Brocq and Grove Racing's Kai Allen's championship hopes were dealt a hammering as they will start 20th and 22nd on the grid respectively.

Only seven drivers will remain in the running for the championship after Sunday's race.

This is because the bottom three drivers in the top-10 rankings who fail to win one of the two races on the Gold Coast will be eliminated from securing the title.

Currently, Allen and Le Brocq are ranked eighth and 10th, respectively, and they now need an almighty performance in Sunday's race to have a chance of snagging a spot in the penultimate round of finals at Sandown in Melbourne.

In another big shock, Anton De Pasquale will begin the race from 21st while championship leader Matt Payne came 12th in qualifying after they failed to thrive in the wet conditions.

Brown, the 2024 series champion, will start alongside Feeney in the front row while non-finalist Aaron Cameron and Bathurst 1000 winner Brodie Kostecki were third and fourth fastest respectively.

The ninth-ranked Ryan Wood came fifth while Erebus Motorsports Jarrod Hughes secured sixth place in his first Supercars shootout.

Cooper Murray, Cam Waters, Saturday's race winner Chaz Mostert and Cameron Hill round out the top 10.

Drivers will return for Race 32 at 2.45 pm (local time).

RACE 32 QUALIFYING RESULTS:

1. Broc Feeney (Triple Eight Race Engineering)

2. Will Brown (Triple Eight)

3. Aaron Cameron (Blanchard Racing Team)

4. Brodie Kostecki (Dick Johnson Racing)

5. Ryan Wood (Walkinshaw TWG Racing)
