A former national sprint champion has received a provisional Australian Athletics ban after being accused of a child sex offence.
Jake Doran, 26, has been prohibited from athletics events and training after being charged with indecent treatment of child under 16 in north Queensland between January 2025 and September 2026.
The former 100m and 200m national champion, who has competed at a world titles and the Commonwealth Games, was arrested in Townsville last week, police said.
Australian Athletics confirmed the provisional ban on Thursday.

''Australian Athletics is aware that an athlete has been charged with a serious offence in Townsville,'' a spokesperson said.
''Based on information provided to Australian Athletics, the organisation has imposed a provisional action on the athlete, prohibiting him from attending club, member association or Australian Athletics events, as well as banning him from participating in athletics training."
Australian Athletics said Doran had no paid or unpaid role within the national body.
''The safety and wellbeing of all participants in our sport is paramount, and we take all allegations of this nature very seriously," the spokesperson said.
In 2022, Doran won the national and Oceania 100m titles, competed at the world titles, and made the semi-finals at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
He claimed the national 200m crown a year later.
Doran was bailed to appear at Townsville Magistrates Court on November 5.
