Olympic star Jessica Fox has finished runner-up in the kayak at the Canoe Slalom Australian Open.

A day after winning the C1 event at the Open, the four-time Olympic medallist was beaten by Martina Wegman from the Netherlands in the K1 final.

Fox's younger sister Noemie finished third to take bronze at the Penrith Whitewater course in Sydney on Saturday.

Fellow Australian Lucien Delfour, a dual Olympian, won the men's kayak final.

“I raced pretty well in the final and I had two touches which meant I just got beaten by Martina. It happens," Jessica Fox said.

"She raced really well, and it’s awesome to be on the podium with Noemie. I’m super-proud of her."

The senior Fox sister, the reigning Olympic C1 champion, took bronze in the K1 at the Tokyo Games and Wegman was seventh.

Australia's Lucien Delfour took top spot in the men's K1 event on the white water at Penrith.

A week after missing out in the K1 at last weekend's Oceania championships, Delfour beat French pair Anatole Delassus and Mathurin Madore.

“It’s always good to get a win, especially at home with a pretty good field out there," Delfour said.

"It’s such a great thing for us to get those international paddlers, they really show us where the level is."

Sunday's final day of competition will feature the kayak cross, a new Olympic event, in which Noemie Fox is hoping to make her Games debut.

“I have to remind myself that the kayak cross is on because I’m a bit wrecked but it’s going to be another really great event," she said.

“It’s such a world-class field. It was pretty rough out there last week and to finish on the podium at the Oceania championships was great.

"I’m looking to do the double again, and to get that race experience is invaluable."
