Jamie-Lee Price has made a triumphant return to her former stomping ground as the Melbourne Mavericks further entrenched themselves in the top four with a crushing 60-41 win over the winless Giants.

The Mavericks led by just two goals at quarter-time, but blew the game apart with a 20-9 second term following a measured spray from coach Gerard Murphy.

The Giants couldn't make a dent on the 32-19 half-time deficit, and their final tally of 41 goals was the lowest in the club's Super Netball history.

The result improved the fourth-placed Mavericks' record to 5-4, putting them two wins clear of the fifth-placed Swifts.

The Giants (0-9) remain on bottom of the table, with their start to the season the second worst on record, behind only the 0-14 Adelaide Thunderbirds of 2018.

Price, a former captain at the Giants, made the move to the Mavericks during the off-season.

Sunday's match represented her first time playing the Giants on their home court, and she was part of an influential Mavericks outfit that blew their opponents away at Sydney's Ken Rosewall Arena.

Price finished with 34 feeds and 20 goal assists, while wing defence Amy Parmenter was also influential.

Mavericks goal shooter Shimona Nelson finished with 38 goals from 41 attempts, while goalkeeper Jessie Grenvold tallied a whopping nine gains.

"This is kind of our second home with so many ex-Giants girls, it's a special place for us," Parmenter told Fox Sports.

"It's great to get the win."

Mavericks coach Murphy wasn't happy with his players at quarter time despite going in with a 12-10 lead.

"You're not awake, clearly, because you can tell by the way you're playing out there," Murphy said to his team.

"You are not connected at all, everyone is panic station. You need to calm the farm. You don't even look like you're in the game at the moment."

His spray worked a treat, with the Mavericks putting in a dominant second-quarter display to blow the game wide open.

The Giants entered half-time with a shooting accuracy of just 68 per cent compared to the Mavericks' 89 per cent.

Things only got worse for the Giants in the second half as the Mavericks continued to pull away.
