Greater Western Sydney utility James Peatling is set for a move to South Australia after requesting a trade to Adelaide.

Out of contract this season, Peatling turned down a long-term offer from the Giants to follow teammate Isaac Cumming to the Crows.

St Kilda, West Coast, Collingwood, Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs reportedly had interest in the Giants academy product, before he made his request on Thursday.

Peatling became highly sought after following a breakout season in the GWS midfield.

The Sydney local broke into the senior side this season with 19 appearances after being drafted as a mid-season rookie selection in 2021.

Peatling was arguably one of the best Giants players in their five-point semi-final loss to eventual premiers Brisbane, nullifying Dayne Zorko and kicking two goals with his first two touches of the game.

He has played 45 games for the club and is the latest of the Giants players to depart.

Free agent Harry Perryman is set to join Collingwood, while veteran defender Nick Haynes, 32, is widely expected to join Carlton.

Meanwhile, inaugural Giants player Adam Kennedy called time on his career earlier this week after 153 games for the club.

Kennedy did not feature in their 2024 campaign after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament for the second time last year.
