In-form Carlton could be without three of their star midfielders for their blockbuster against AFL ladder-leaders Collingwood.
The Blues thumped hapless West Coast by 71 points in typical fashion on Saturday, but their fifth-straight win was soured by a hamstring strain to Sam Walsh.
The Blues vice captain has had scans and the club will confirm the severity of Walsh's injury on Monday.
Carlton were already without captain Patrick Cripps (corked hamstring) and fellow gun midfielder Adam Cerra (hamstring) against the Eagles.
Cripps is a realistic chance to play against Collingwood at the MCG on Friday night but Cerra remains in major doubt.
Versatile forward Jack Silvagni, Carlton's best in a memorable win over Port Adelaide a week earlier, also left Saturday's game early, with a knee concern.
Carlton defender Sam Docherty on Monday was uncertain how Walsh had pulled up but Blues coach Michael Voss was hopeful.
"Walshy was obviously a hamstring and SOS as well with a knee," Voss said on Saturday.
"We’ll get them scanned, there’s no early indication around what that looks like, but we’re hopeful they’re all on the very minor end.
“We are expecting it to be on the minor end, but with all of these, I discount nothing."
The rampant Magpies (16-2) are clear premiership favourites as they sit two games and percentage clear on top of the ladder.
Docherty is excited by the challenge in front of Carlton at the MCG on Friday night, 10 weeks after the Blues were completely outplayed by the Magpies.
"I think four or five weeks ago, not many people would believe us that we thought we had better footy in us," he said.
"They're the benchmark. It's pretty obvious they've had a super year so far and played some unbelievable footy.
"When we played them earlier in the year, we probably weren't in our best form and went about really focusing on what's important to us and what makes us a good footy team, so we're excited to be able to go out and test that against the best this week."
