Iranian pro-Israel chant video is AI-generated

The video is littered with signs that it's not genuine. (Facebook/AAP)

What was claimed

Footage shows young Iranians chanting "we love Israel".

Our verdict

False. The video is AI-generated.

AAP FACTCHECK - A video supposedly depicting Iranians demonstrating in the street and declaring "we love Israel" has been generated using artificial intelligence (AI).

The ongoing Israel-Iran conflict has been the subject of numerous AI-generated fake videos and photos, most depicting explosions and combat.

However, this viral video differs in that it seeks to distort public reaction to the conflict.

One Facebook post claims "Israel is giving the Iranian people hope for freedom after 46 years of oppression, and terror."

The post's video shows what are depicted as Iranians marching in the street and chanting "we love Israel."

"What a wonderful time to be alive and witness such a thing," the post says.

The video has also been shared by Australian Facebook users.

AAP FactCheck performed a reverse image search on the video, which led to a TikTok account where the user has labelled it as AI-generated.

There are several clues in the video that it has been made with AI.

There are many examples of poorly rendered AI imagery, including that some of the foreground figures in the early part of the video look like cartoons.

There are multiple signs the video is not authentic, including this man's arm. (Facebook/AAP)

Just two seconds in, the arm of the character in a blue T-shirt, in the bottom centre of the clip, snaps back in a freakishly unnatural way.

At the five-second mark, a character in a black T-shirt, central and near to a flag, disappears, as if merging with other figures.

At the 11-second mark, the mouth of a man with a green T-shirt and backpack doesn't move naturally and the side of his face and chin are pixelated. The sign he is holding appears to be gibberish.

In the first six seconds of the clip, the Iranian flags in the foreground, especially to the left, don't move naturally but rather snap back and forward.

At the 10-second mark, a character in a black T-shirt to the left of the woman in the foreground, can't close his mouth, which also doesn't move to match the chant.

At the 12-second mark, the woman in a partly orange top has a face that is totally distorted by pixelation, with the AI appearing to have failed to render her face to make it appear human.

At the five-second mark, one character in the centre of the frame appears to become a floating head.

AAP FactCheck has also debunked similar claims that Iranians are dancing in the street to celebrate Israel's missile attacks on Tehran.
