An Israeli airstrike has killed two Palestinians and injured others in an attack targeting a car in Gaza City, Palestinian news agency WAFA reports.

Images from the scene published by WAFA on Sunday showed a burnt-out vehicle in the Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood, southwest of Gaza City.

The Israeli military said it had targeted two members of Hamas' military wing, alleging that they were members of a technical unit involved in the production and development of weapons.

The Hamas members had also been preparing attacks against Israelis and posed a threat, the military said. The claims could not be independently verified.

While a ceasefire has been in place in the Gaza war since October 2025, deadly incidents and attacks continue to occur. Israel recently intensified its airstrikes, saying that it was specifically targeting senior Hamas members.
