American pop superstar Katy Perry is being investigated over an alleged historical sexual assault against Australian actor and model Ruby Rose.
Victoria Police confirmed on Wednesday its sexual offences detectives were looking into claims of a historical assault in Melbourne in 2010.
"Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD," a spokeswoman said.
Rose, in response to a post on social media platform Threads, on Sunday alleged Perry "sexually assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne".

The former Orange Is The New Black series star said her head was on a friend's lap to avoid Perry when the singer pulled her own underwear to the side and "rubbed" her genitals on Rose's face.
This triggered Rose, now 40, to projectile vomit on Perry, one of the posts said.
The actor, who was born in Melbourne and hosted several Australian TV shows before moving to Hollywood, responded to comments by saying Perry was "welcome to sue".
"She won't because it happened, I have photos and it was witnessed by multiple people," she added.
Rose followed up the sexual assault accusation a day later to say she would report the claims "to see if any of my experiences can be investigated".
"I imagine they are past their statute of limitations, but all the more reason to try," she wrote on Threads.

"For years I have been too wounded and afraid to take the appropriate steps because I know the system seldom works."
In her "last" update on Tuesday evening, Rose said she had finalised all her reports and could not comment, repost or talk publicly about any of the individuals involved.
"This is a standard request from the police and in many ways, quite the relief," she said in another Threads post.
"I can start the healing process now. And temporary (sic) move forward."
Perry's representatives have been contacted for comment, but they have told multiple other publications that Rose's allegations "are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies".
The singer, whose tracks included I Kissed a Girl, Firework and Roar, performed at the 2024 AFL Grand Final.
Rose's allegations come as a 2014 interview of Pitch Perfect actress Anna Kendrick on Conan O'Brien's US talk show resurfaces, where she claimed Perry touched her during the Grammy Awards.
“Katy Perry finger-banged my cleavage. It was a weird night,” Kendrick said as the audience laughed and cheered.

“She’s very mature.”
"Okay ... she just does that?" host O'Brien replied.
Kendrick said her strapless gown was "kinda asking for it".
"I have met her before ... she's aggressive. I like it," she said.
Perry is dating former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and the duo were recently seen dancing together during Justin Bieber's Coachella festival performance.
