Star Sydney Roosters playmaker Luke Keary will start against Canberra in a significant boost to his team's hopes of salvaging their NRL season.

Scans early in the week cleared the veteran of a fractured jaw, however he remained in doubt for Sunday's Allianz Stadium match following the painful blow from a loose boot in the Roosters' win over Newcastle in round 16.

The incident caused significant alarm, following in the wake of Keary's broken jaw from a pre-season training accident.

Coach Trent Robinson confirmed on Saturday Keary would again partner youngster Sandon Smith in the halves, as the 11th-placed Roosters look to join the eighth-placed Raiders on 20 points.

"He's right to go," Robinson said.

"It was a pretty decent blow where the screw and the plate was last time he broke his jaw, and that caused it to blow up and bleed a lot.

"It was a suspected broken jaw, so good news.

"It's pretty key for us to continue with those guys in the halves ... to keep going with a leader like Kez (Keary) is important."

The Roosters also welcome back Victor Radley after his latest suspension, with Robinson urging the firebrand lock to keep playing his antagonistic style of football.

"I want him to play his brand of footy, so naturally he's going to be close to the line - that's where he plays his best and that's what we've come to love about Victor," the coach said.

"Him regulating that is the key but I don't want him to be far from the line."

NSW captain James Tedesco and Queensland prop Lindsay Collins will both back up from Wednesday night's State of Origin game.

Robinson said the troops had rallied around Tedesco, who was part of the badly beaten Blues.

"It's our job to support him to get back to playing footy here," he said of the fullback.

"It's tough - it's not great what happened to NSW ... and as a captain you wear that but there's a game tomorrow and you have to pull on another jersey. He's good to go."

Second-row forward Sitili Tupouniua badly corked his thigh in the win over the Knights but is set to play.
