A man has been charged over his connection to a fatal shooting of an underworld figure at a petrol station, with an accused killer who appeared in rap videos on the run.

The 33-year-old man arrested at Goulburn Police Station is believed to have helped arrange the destruction of getaway cars used by two masked gunmen.

In footage captured on security camera, they are alleged to have killed Niddal Acherkouk at a Surry Hills BP in inner Sydney after he had finished dinner at a nearby Turkish restaurant.

Acherkouk, 31, had parked his car at the fuel station when he was ambushed by two masked gunmen, who shot him about 7.45 pm on November 22, 2024 as he tried to flee.

NSW Police released CCTV footage of the incident in October 2025 showing a masked gunman wearing a hoodie chasing after Acherkouk between petrol pumps before shooting him.

He then jumps in a Porsche and speeds off with an accomplice. The luxury car was later found alight in a nearby suburb, with police believing the gunmen fled in another stolen white Audi hatchback.

The man on Wednesday was charged with participating in a criminal group and was refused bail to appear in court on Thursday.

A warrant is out for rapper YC EWZY - real name Harley Johan - over his alleged connection to the shooting.

Investigations under Strike Force Moorlands are ongoing.

Dozens of public shootings, arson attacks and kidnappings across Sydney in 2024 and 2025 led police to set up the 150-officer-strong Taskforce Falcon in May to crush the underworld warfare.
