A terror-accused man who allegedly sought out information on military training and explosive devices has faced court on a charge carrying a potential life sentence.
Lucas Shawn Cameron, 22, appeared by video link in Perth Magistrates' Court on Friday, charged with doing an act in preparation for a terrorist act.
He allegedly obtained a machete and did online research and engaged in conversations about attack methods in the month to December 4, 2025.
He also allegedly obtained explosive guides during that time.
Cameron, who had a scraggly reddish-coloured beard and short hair, confirmed to the court he understood the charge but was not required to enter a plea.
After the new charge was laid, prosecutors withdrew three counts of collecting and possessing documents connected to a terrorist attack, to which Cameron had pleaded not guilty.
The new charge carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
He was remanded in custody ahead of a next mention in Stirling Magistrates Court on November 11.

Police allege Cameron sought assistance on a messaging platform in relation to explosive devices, military and tactical training, weapons manufacturing, combat techniques and fake documents as part of planning a terrorist attack.
Cameron was initially charged in December after counter terrorism officers executed a search warrant at a property in Westminster in Perth's north.
An electronic device seized by investigators allegedly contained violent extremist material.
Cameron is also charged with possessing or controlling violent extremist material obtained or accessed using a carriage service, and accessing violent extremist material using a carriage service.
He has previously indicated he will plead guilty to these two charges.
