A man has been injured and police are questioning two people after what officers believe was a targeted early morning shooting at a Melbourne strip club.

Emergency services were called to The Men's Gallery on Lonsdale Street, near the intersection of King Street in Melbourne's CBD, just after 4am on Sunday following reports a man was injured.

The victim, a 19-year-old man from Niddrie in the city's northwest, was found on the road with police told a suspected gunshot was heard.

The man was taken to hospital where police on Sunday morning said he was refusing to provide information to detectives about the incident.

He sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The alleged offender fled after the shooting, which police believed was targeted, Victoria Police inspector Chris Murray said.

Later on Sunday, officers announced they arrested and were interviewing two 24-year-old Melbourne men over the incident.

The circumstances of the incident are yet to be determined.

It comes almost four months after three men were stabbed outside the same venue.

Police believe two groups of men had an altercation outside the strip club in the early hours of the morning.
