The chief executive of Michael Hill International has died unexpectedly.

Daniel Bracken 57, suffered an adverse reaction to medical treatment for an underlying condition overnight, Michael Hill Group said in a statement on Wednesday.

"The board, executive and all of the Michael Hill team express their deepest and sincerest condolences to his family and friends," the company said.

Mr Bracken had been CEO of the Brisbane-based jewellery chain, which has 300 stores across Australia, New Zealand and Canada, since November 2018.
