Australia are sending more of their World Cup heroes home from India as they fly in reinforcements for the final three Twenty20s.

Sean Abbott, Josh Inglis, Glen Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Steve Smith and Adam Zampa will head home following the third T20 against India on Wednesday morning AEDT.

But Travis Head, the hero of Australia's World Cup semi-final and final victory, will be staying despite missing the first two T20s.

Head's World Cup celebrations have become legendary on social media, and was wisely rested from the matches in Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram.

Ben McDermott and Josh Phillipe have already landed in India, while Ben Dwarshuis and uncapped NSW spinner Chris Green will link up with the squad in Raipur.

Australia were belted in the second T20 by an under-strength India on Monday AEDT, continuing their post-World Cup hangover.

The five-match series began just four days after Australia's stunning ODI World Cup triumph over India in Ahmedabad.

Only seven members of the squad have remained in India to feature in the T20 series as captain Pat Cummins, and even coach Andrew McDonald, travelled back to Australia to prepare for the home Test summer against Pakistan and the West Indies.
