A man has been charged with murder over the death of another man who was stabbed and then dropped off at a hospital.

Port Melbourne man Daniel Cockerill, 45, was left at Casey Hospital on March 26 with a wound to his upper body.

He was treated by hospital staff but died soon after.

Victoria Police arrested and interviewed 40-year-old Narre Warren man Jordan Riley over Mr Cockerill's death on Friday.

He was charged with murder and appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon.

Riley did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to next appear in court in September.

His lawyer said there were no issues with his management in custody.

A 37-year-old man was also interviewed on Thursday but released without charge.

It comes after police last week issued a renewed plea for information over Mr Cockerill's death.
