A man has been extradited from Canberra to face court in NSW charged with murder following the stabbing death of a man in Sydney last week.

Emergency crews were called to a home at St Clair in western Sydney about 4.30pm on Friday where they found an unconscious man with serious injuries.

Despite efforts by officers and paramedics he died at the scene.

NSW Police issued an arrest warrant for murder and on Monday ACT police arrested a 24-year-old man in the Canberra suburb of Bruce.

Detectives travelled to Canberra where they were granted the man's extradition to NSW.

He was on Tuesday taken to Queanbeyan Police Station, charged with murder and refused bail to appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on Wednesday.
