A man has been charged with murder a week after the body of a self-employed father of two was found by his former partner in the Gold Coast hinterland.
Emergency services were called to Mount Tamborine after midday on June 29 and found a 37-year-old man with fatal injuries to his head and upper body.
Police investigations indicate the man was allegedly killed by a friend who had a long-standing relationship with the victim.
"The scene was brought to the attention of emergency services as a result of the deceased gentleman's wife," Detective Inspector Chris Knight told reporters on Thursday.
"And as you can imagine, to say it was confronting is, to be quite honest, an understatement."
Forensic scientists had been sweeping the crime scene for nearly a week, with police investigators now at the address to continue physical searches.
Det Insp Knight said police were not looking for any further suspects.
Homicide detectives on Thursday charged a Paradise Point man, 36, with one count of murder.
He is expected to face the Southport Magistrates Court on Friday.
