The NBL is investigating a training mishap that resulted in an Adelaide 36ers player being hospitalised after a backboard collapsed.

Multiple outlets reported that Ben Griscti, whose team were training Canberra's AIS Arena as part of the league's pre-season tournament, was injured when a backboard fell on him.

Griscti is in a stable condition, having been taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance.

"The National Basketball League (NBL) is aware of a training incident involving Adelaide 36ers' player, Benjamin Griscti," the league said in a statement.

"The circumstances surrounding the incident will be investigated.

"The NBL advises that currently, Blitz (pre-season) games scheduled for 30th August will continue."
