A sneak peek of the 2032 Olympic main stadium has been provided as organisers count down to the controversial venue's construction.

A year after unveiling its Games venue delivery plan, the Queensland government has provided an updated look with the latest artist's impression of its centrepiece - the 63,000-seat Brisbane Stadium.

Construction is set to begin in June as organisers race the clock to deliver its venues, almost five years after Brisbane was unveiled as 2032 host.

The $3.8 billion main stadium will be built in a "central position" at Victoria Park in inner Brisbane with the exact location set to be revealed by Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie on Wednesday.

The first early designs of the stadium are also expected to be unveiled.

The latest artist's impressions show the venue's muti-tiered interior hosting AFL and cricket matches following the Games.

The size and shape of the field of play will be equivalent in size to the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The stadium's designers earlier indicated the venue would reflect the classic open features of the "Queenslander" building design.

The latest images indicate they will deliver with gaps in seating at either end of the venue to capture breezes.

The consortium behind the main stadium's design includes Australian-founded firms COX and Hassel, in partnership with Japan's Azusa Sekkei.

Early works to build the stadium will begin once the land is transferred to the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority on June 1.

Almost 20 new and upgraded venues across the state are set to be constructed for the Games.

Eyebrows were raised when Rockhampton's Fitzroy River - a crocodile habitat - was named as the rowing host in the delivery plan 12 months ago.

Besides the local reptiles, a Games authority study reportedly revealed days ago that the river would need to be significantly widened and dredged to meet Olympic requirements for competition.

However, Brisbane Stadium has arguably created the most controversy with multiple legal applications afoot to stop work at the Victoria Park site.

The applications have been made under federal Indigenous heritage protection laws.

"We are pursuing every legal avenue possible to protect our cultural heritage and we will continue to follow the federal process," Yagara Magandjin Aboriginal Corporation spokesperson and applicant Gaja Kerry Charlton said.

“We are pro-Olympics, but we are anti-stadium in Barrambin (Victoria Park).

"This project shows a lack of care for Aboriginal cultural heritage."

The federal government has already rejected a bid to cease work on the Victoria Park site on Indigenous heritage grounds.

The Commonwealth appointed an independent mediator to work with the Games authority to "avoid harm to cultural heritage" and is set to advise on the remaining applications to stop work at Victoria Park.
