Willie Rioli's ugly aftermath to Saturday night now also has a dose of AFL match review pain.

The Port Adelaide forward faces a two-game AFL suspension for striking Collingwood opponent Nathan Murphy in the last quarter of the Magpie's two-point win at Adelaide Oval.

Rioli was sent racist messages online after the match and the AFL is investigating, with the Power and the Magpies also condemning the abuse.

His high contact with Murphy on Saturday did not appear overly forceful, though the Magpies defender went to ground in the incident.

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley said he did not believe Rioli's actions warranted suspension.

But the incident was graded intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact.

It means Rioli will miss Saturday night's Showdown and then the daunting away trip to Geelong, unless Port successfully challenge the charge at the tribunal.

"Nothing in it, surely. I looked at it," Hinkley said.

"I always say (match review) will take care of it and if it needs to be looked at they will.

"But … I’ve seen a lot worse."

Also on Sunday, West Coast forward Samo Petrevski-Seton became the latest player to be penalised under the league's crackdown on dangerous tackles.

He faces a two-game suspension for his sling tackle of Carlton's Alex Cincotta on Saturday at Marvel Stadium.

Cincotta had to leave the field after the incident, but he returned and played out the game.

Petrevski-Seton was also banned for one game earlier this season for a dangerous tackle, also on Cincotta.

Hawthorn ruckman Ned Reeves was banned for one game after his tackle on Richmond's Ivan Soldo.

Geelong forward Tyson Stengle can accept a $3000 fine for striking Brisbane's Dayne Zorko, while Rioli's teammate Kane Farrell was fined $1500 for misconduct after pushing Bobby Hill over the fence.
