A Russian-Australian man has been charged with foreign interference by the Australian Federal Police.

The dual citizen, a 27-year-old Victorian man, was arrested on Thursday in Brisbane's southwest.

He will face Brisbane Magistrates Court later on Friday, charged with attempting to engage in intentional foreign interference.

The arrest came following an investigation by the federal police's counter foreign interference task force.

Australian Federal Police commissioner Krissy Barrett will provide an update on the arrest on Friday afternoon.
