Melbourne have dazzling debutant Sua Fa'alogo on contract until the end of 2025 and intend to keep him long term.
The 20-year-old came off the bench at fullback in the Storm's 32-22 win over Brisbane on Thursday night and scored two tries in an electrifying performance in his first NRL game.
Fa'alogo's opening try, with almost his first touch, came off the back of a 70-metre burst in which he interchanged passes with starting No.1 Ryan Papenhuyzen.
Fa'alogo, a Victoria junior, scored the match clincher with a classic show and go, before putting his foot down to leave Broncos defenders in his wake.
Storm recruitment chief Paul Bunn told AAP the young gun was not going anywhere, with Melbourne having an option in their favour for the 2025 season.
"You'd think we would be exercising it," Bunn said.
"He has been a standout all through the grades."
Dane Campbell, who was a Storm recruiter before joining North Queensland, rang Bunn and alerted him to Fa'alogo's class when the player was still in his teens.
"Dane said he had a local kid who was a ripper, and it wasn't hard to see," Bunn said.
"He was amazingly quick with electric footwork and enthusiastically in the game all the time. He did it all with a smile on his face.
"He is respectful and ticks every box."
Having Papenhuyzen signed long term will not deter the Storm from keeping Fa'alogo beyond his current deal.
"He can play on the wing and probably 14 as well," Bunn said.
"Imagine Sua learning off a bloke called Billy Slater. Billy works with those boys (as a coaching consultant) and is outstanding with him."
After starring on debut, Fa'alogo said he never wanted to leave Melbourne.
“I would love to stay at the Storm. They are the best club with the best culture," he said.
“Paps (Papenhuyzen) has been helping me a lot and Billy as well.
“Pretty much (the advice) is just keeping it simple and just doing my role.
“Thank you to (coach) Craig (Bellamy) for giving me the opportunity to make it.
“I came straight from Samoa and never thought I would play NRL.
“I live in Melbourne, played my junior footy in Melbourne and then just got lucky and Storm offered me an opportunity."
Coach Bellamy said Fa'alogo took his chance superbly against the Broncos.
"We know he is a brave little player and obviously quick. That is his strength," Bellamy said.
"He still needs to learn a few things about the game and we are trying to do that as quickly as we can.
"We all see the potential that he has got and I am sure he is going to be a regular first-grader in the not-too-distant future."
