Melbourne hooker Harry Grant is in danger of missing the opening State of Origin match for Queensland with a hamstring injury.
The 27-year-old sustained the injury in his side's captain's run on Thursday and coach Craig Bellamy said he was expected to miss up to six weeks.
Grant was replaced by Bronson Garlick for the Storm's clash with the Dolphins on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium.
Maroons coach Billy Slater will be concerned that Grant will be racing the clock to be fit for the opening Origin clash at Suncorp Stadium on May 28.
"He’s had a scan. They are thinking four to six weeks,” Bellamy told Fox League before the Dolphins clash.
“It was pretty innocuous there yesterday at training. We were doing our captain's run. Pretty early on he just sort of pulled up lame. He was pretty sore afterwards so he went for a scan and it unfortunately wasn’t great news."
While a blow for the Storm, the injury will have implications for the Maroons.
Slater may elevate Brisbane No.6 and regular Maroons No.14 Ben Hunt to the starting position.
Canterbury rake Reed Mahoney is another contender after his stellar start to the season.
