A primary school teacher has been accused of secretly filming young children as they used the school bathroom more than 357 times on hidden spy cameras.

Timothy Blamires, 33, appeared before Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday, for a brief hearing before his matter was adjourned to November 20.

Charge sheets released by the court revealed the extent of the teacher's alleged crimes committed over six months at Kingswood Primary School, at Dingley Village in Melbourne’s southeast.

Blamires is accused of installing the spy cameras inside fragrance dispensers in school toilets and filming children between October 13, 2025 and April 21.

Court documents allege he recorded "in excess" of 34 prepubescent children on October 13, 2025, more than 188 children a week later on October 20, and over 60 children two days after that on October 22.

On March 30, he is accused of recording in excess of 74 children using the spy cams.

A cleaner replacing an odour dispenser's fragrance inside the male toilets on April 28 allegedly discovered the hidden camera inside, which had a wire connected to a hard drive.

She placed it into a plastic bag and put it on the principal's desk before police were called.

While officers were on their way, Blamires is accused of taking the camera and putting it inside a drawer in a sick bay before returning to his class to teach.

The odour dispenser was allegedly found inside his backpack at the school after his arrest, and police seized devices from his home including laptops, phones and tablets.

Blamires has been charged with 16 offences, including six counts of installing a spy cam, five counts of producing child abuse material, four counts of possessing child abuse material and one count of refusing to comply with a police direction to hand over access codes to devices.

He was denied bail in May after a magistrate found his risks could not be reduced to an acceptable level, pointing to difficulties in enforcing a ban on internet access.
