A teenager is in custody after a police car was rammed and a cyclist hit during a Melbourne crime rampage.

A spree of incidents began with a carjacking at a home in Templestowe in the city's east about 9.30pm on Wednesday.

The Mitsubishi Lancer was dumped in the nearby suburb of Nunawading and another car was then stolen during an aggravated burglary.

It's suspected the white Audi coupe later struck a cyclist in Box Hill South. The driver failed to stop and the male rider was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say the driver then hit a number of parked cars before waking a sleeping resident and making demands for property.

A police car was later rammed, leaving two officers with minor injuries.

An 18-year-old man from Olinda was arrested and taken to hospital under police guard.

Anyone who witnessed any of the incidents is urged to contact police.
