Teenager charged with murder over daylight stabbing

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder over the stabbing death of a man in broad daylight.

Police were called to a busy intersection in Ascot Vale, in Melbourne's inner northwest about 3.45pm on Sunday, after a 40-year-old man was found with stab wounds.

The man was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries, where he later died.

A 16-year-old boy, from the Moonee Valley area, was arrested in Carlton about 10.45am on Wednesday.

He has since been charged with murder and will appear in a children’s court at a later date.

An 18-year-old man of no fixed address was charged on Monday with intentionally cause injury, affray, escape custody and theft.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on December 18.

Detectives are not looking for anyone else in relation to the stabbing.
