False. The Truth Social post is fake.
AAP FACTCHECK - Donald Trump did not berate Anthony Albanese on social media for interrupting his round of golf, contrary to online claims.
There is no record of the US president making the disparaging remarks about the prime minister on his Truth Social account or in any credible news reports.
A September 12 Facebook post features a screenshot purporting to show a post from the US president’s account on Truth Social, a social media platform majority-owned by Mr Trump.
"Yesterday an annoying little weasel of a man interrupted my round of golf," the supposed post reads.
"He told me he was Australia's Prime Minister and then started rambling on about living in a housing commission. So I hung up on him.
"He later called back and asked if he can visit me in The Oval Office. He's not a smart man, in fact he sounded retarded with that lisp."
The post goes on to make disparaging remarks about former Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd, who the post inaccurately says is the Australian ambassador to the US.
Mr Rudd served as Australia's ambassador to the United States from March 2023, but left the role in March 2026 and was succeeded by Greg Moriarty.
The post also mentions former Australian prime minister Gough Whitlam.
But the Truth Social post is entirely fabricated.
A search of Mr Trump's Truth Social account for the names "Albanese," "Kevin Rudd" and "Gough Whitlam" reveals no posts containing the supposed remarks.
The supposed post also does not appear on Trump's Truth, an independent web archive that records the US president's posts on the platform.
According to this archive, Mr Trump last posted about Mr Albanese in March, when he said the Australian prime minister was doing "a very good job".
This was in relation to Mr Albanese's handling of concerns regarding the Iranian women's soccer team, who were in the country when the US-Iran War began.
