Bushfire threat to homes in Perth's west downgraded

The fire that started in Bold Park has been controlled but is not contained. (HANDOUT/DEPARTMENT OF FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES)

A  bushfire burning in scrubby parkland in Perth's wealthy western suburbs has been brought under control.

The fire started in Bold Park, with residents warned early on Monday there was a possible threat to lives and homes.

But that's since been downgraded after firefighters strengthened containment lines and controlled the blaze.

A bushfire advice warning is in place for an area bounded by Oceanic Drive, Perry Lakes Drive, Stephenson Avenue, Rochdale Road and West Coast Highway in parts of City Beach, Floreat and Mount Claremont in the cities of Cambridge and Nedlands.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said lots of smoke remained in the area but there was no immediate threat to lives or homes.

It urged residents to stay aware and keep up to date with emergency warnings in case the situation changes.
