When lifelong friends Matthew Coe and Roman Deguchi decided to start a business they combined their passions for gardening and youth work.
The pair have more than 20 years of experience between them in the areas of horticulture and community services.
Wildflower is an Indigenous-led not for profit social enterprise, based in Redfern.
The business specialises in softscaping, which creates green spaces using native plants to build a connection to country.
Mr Coe, a proud Wiradjuri and Narungga man who has the totems butterfish and goanna, hopes to grow Wildflower into a national business.
He prides himself on breaking the unemployment cycle for Indigenous youth and giving them a reason to get out of bed.
"I never thought that I would be able to give 15 boys employment so they can feed their families," Mr Coe said.
"We're feeding about 100 people at the end of the day, which is unreal."
Mr Coe says starting his own business has been empowering and is encouraging other Indigenous Australians to give it a go.
"Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would own a business," he said.
"Just don't doubt yourself.
"All Blackfullas are talented and whatever we put our minds to, we can do it."
