A woman has been charged with murder, almost three years after a body was found hidden at an apartment block.

Tanya Lee Glover's body was discovered by cleaners tightly wrapped behind a wall in the Brisbane complex on December 7, 2022.

Police believe she was murdered around January in 2010 and was moved into a crawl space.

Detectives flew from Brisbane to Townsville on Friday and arrested a 61-year-old Wulguru woman known to Ms Glover.

The 61-year-old woman has also been charged with fraud and misconduct with a corpse.

She had been living at the same complex as Ms Glover, Detective Inspector John Mison said.

"I've been in the police for 35 years ... I've never come across anything like that," he told reporters on Friday.

"She was located in a busy city, approximately 5km from the centre of a city and she'd been there for 12 or so years.

"That in itself is quite remarkable."

Ms Glover was aged about 38 when she died and was hearing and vision impaired, police said.

It is believed she moved to Queensland from NSW in 2006 and lived in the inner Brisbane suburb of Fortitude Valley.

A year after her body was discovered, a $500,000 reward was offered for information to help solve the suspected murder.

The reward remains outstanding for information that leads to the conviction of anyone found to be responsible for Ms Glover's murder.

The woman is expected to face the Townsville Magistrates Court on Saturday.
