A woman accused of assaulting an off-duty police sergeant who removed four children left unattended in a car at a shopping centre has stayed silent after appearing in court.

Maysoon Ibrahim Jubran, 50, allegedly left the children - aged between seven and 11 - in a vehicle at a shopping centre in Bass Hill in southwest Sydney on December 9.

Police say the female officer removed the emotionally distressed youngsters from the unlocked car before Jubran approached her.

The 50-year-old the allegedly became aggressive, assaulting the sergeant before returning the children to the vehicle and driving off.

On December 17, she is accused of resisting three attending police officers executing their duty and failing to disclose the identity of the passengers in the motor vehicle.
