A woodchopper who spent nearly four days missing in rugged bushland has been found alive.
Corey Chugg, 32, was discovered on Thursday at the bottom of a steep incline after disappearing at Mount Barrow in Tasmania's north on Sunday night.
He was able to speak with rescue personnel when he was discovered and has been transferred to hospital.
Police are expected to provide details on the search and rescue operation and Mr Chugg's condition on Thursday afternoon.
The Longford man had ventured into bushland at Nunamara when he became separated from his friend.
The pair had planned to do wood cutting before Mr Chugg got lost.
For days, authorities and his families worried the cold weather and elements could put him in greater danger.
He did not have any rescue equipment or food with him, and was last seen wearing shorts and a top as temperatures reached lows of 7C at nearby Launceston.
Search crews, aided by State Emergency Service personnel, police drones and helicopters were scouring a broad area from Mount Barrow to Nunamara but had been able to narrow down the area by honing in on Mr Chugg's phone pings.
