A five-year-old boy has died after he was struck by a car on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

Emergency services responded to reports of a crash on Anzac Avenue in Collaroy about 1.25pm on Sunday.

Paramedics treated the boy at the scene before he was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

He died in hospital about 6pm, police said in a statement on Monday.

A crime scene was later examined by specialist police.

The driver of the vehicle, a 77-year-old man, was taken to Northern Beaches Hospital for mandatory testing and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
