Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow is set to return to his favourite position of fullback as the Dolphins prepare to launch a late season run at playing NRL finals.
The man known as Hammer has played centre in his past two club matches, the position he thrived in for Queensland in the State of Origin series.
With all key Dolphins outside backs now available for Sunday's match against Canterbury in Bundaberg, Tabuai-Fidow was on Monday back training at fullback, where he played when his early season form lifted the side into the top four.
The Dolphins are fresh from a bye and on 22 competition points in 13th position, but just two points outside the top eight.
With six rounds remaining the Dolphins can play finals if they can rediscover their early season mojo.
It is a remarkable achievement for a club in their first NRL season, especially considering the injuries and suspensions that impacted the Wayne Bennett-coached outfit in the middle period of the campaign.
"The best thing is that we are in control of our own destiny and still in the fight," Dolphins second-rower Felise Kaufusi said.
"Who would have thought that coming up this game we would be still in the hunt?
"There is that belief within the group that we just need a couple of wins to get a roll-on going and we are a chance of squeezing into the top eight."
Kaufusi said Tabuai-Fidow's return to fullback would be a major boost against the Bulldogs.
"He is lightning. I love to see him in open space any day of the week," Kaufusi said.
"It is exciting that he gets to go back and play fullback. He can play both roles - centre and fullback - but nothing beats Hammer out in the open.
"He glides and only runs as fast as he has to. I'd love to see him run 100 metres to see how fast he really is, or a race between him and Foxx (Bulldogs winger Josh Addo-Carr) to see who the fastest man in league is."
Dolphins' hooker Jeremy Marshall-King could make a return from a shoulder injury against the Bulldogs after last playing against Brisbane in round 18.
Marshall-King trained on Monday at No.9 and has been one of the club's best in a season in which suspension and injury has limited his appearances.
