William Shatner has reassured fans he is "perfectly fine" after being rushed to hospital.

The 94-year-old Star Trek legend was reported to have been taken to a Los Angeles medical facility by paramedics on Wednesday afternoon but on Thursday, the Star Trek legend insisted he had simply "over indulged".

Shatner shared a photo of himself on social media which was captioned: “Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.”

He added: “I over indulged. I thank you all for caring but I’m perfectly fine. I keep telling you all: don’t trust tabloids or AI!”

The veteran actor's agent had previously told TMZ that the star had suffered "an issue with his blood sugar" while at home in California and called emergency medical service workers for help as a precaution.

He was taken to a local hospital to get checked out but returned home shortly afterwards.
