Olympics sevens silver medallist Will Warbrick has reaffirmed his commitment to rugby league by signing a contract extension with Melbourne until the end of 2026.
The Kiwi winger has had a break-through season in 2023 after spending much of his first year at the Storm playing for the Sunshine Coast Falcons following his transition from rugby sevens where he won a silver medal at the Tokyo Games.
He has scored six tries in 11 games this season after making his debut in round one against Parramatta.
"It was one thing to sign with Storm in the first place, so to extend my contract for another three years is pretty special," Warbrick said in a statement on Tuesday.
"It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to stay at a club like Storm and be in a position to set up for the future."
Storm general manager of football Frank Ponissi said Warbrick, who played Australian Rules as a youngster in New Zealand, had to learn the game.
"Will really had to get back to basics when he first arrived and having some senior players around him at the time has certainly helped his progression," Ponissi said.
"We always knew there would be a period of transition from rugby but he’s now seeing the rewards of that hard work over the last season and a half."
