Police allege a man locked a woman on a hotel balcony in Sydney's CBD before she fell to her death.

The 51-year-old man was arrested and charged with domestic violence offences on Tuesday.

Officers found the 45-year-old woman's body on a level one rooftop in Sussex Street, following reports she had fallen from a 10th floor balcony about 8pm on May 22, 2020.

Detectives established Strike Force Cumulus to investigate the woman’s death and have charged the man with take/detain a person with intent to obtain advantage.

The Riverwood man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on January 12.
