Logan Martin, Grace Brown and Michael Matthews headline a massive Australian cycling team of 121 riders across 10 disciplines for the historic world championships in and around Glasgow.

This will be the first time that cycling has run all its world championship at the one time and in the one area, with road, track, BMX, mountain bike and trials events on the August 3-13 program.

The road and track para cycling world titles are on the program, while Australian amateur cyclists have also entered road and BMX events.

Australia's team will feature 84 elite riders, including 22 para-cyclists, plus 11 under-23 riders and 26 juniors.

It has been a major logistical project for AusCycling, especially given the travel involved to Scotland.

"This will be a massive event on a scale of major multi-sport games," said team chef de mission Paul Brosnan.

"We will have 350 athletes (including amateurs) and 80 staff on the ground across Scotland, participating in almost every event on offer.

"With such an extraordinary cohort of riders, Australia will be among the most competitive nations."

Martin won Australia's only cycling gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics and he will compete for his third world title in BMX freestyle.

He has won two rounds of the World Cup this year, as well as the Australian and Oceania titles.

Brown won time trial silver at last year's world road championships in Wollongong and will compete in Scotland after racing at the eight-day Tour de France Femmes from next Sunday.

The strong women's road team also features Amanda Spratt, who will race at her 11th road worlds.

Australia has qualified the maximum-possible number of starters for the road events and the men's team will include Matthews, who won bronze in the road race at Wollongong.

Sprinter Caleb Ewan, a controversial omission from the Wollongong squad, returns to the national team for Glasgow after his frustrating Tour de France ended in withdrawal on stage 13.

Two-time world time trial champion Rohan Dennis will represent Australia for the last time in Scotland before his retirement at the end of the season.

The track team will be led by the men's team sprinters, who are reigning world champions.

Their standout rider is Matthew Richardson and he will also go up against the powerful Dutch team in the match sprint and keirin events.
